More broadband plans now bundle in OTT apps and live TV. The question is whether that’s a real saving or just a sticker on the box. Here’s how to think about it.
Do the simple math
Add up what you already pay for streaming each month — SonyLIV, Zee5, Prime, a sports pack, maybe a kids’ app. For a lot of households that’s a few hundred rupees on top of the internet bill, often for apps people forget they’re subscribed to.
A bundled broadband plan rolls those into one bill. If the apps included are ones you actually watch, you’re usually ahead — you get the internet you needed anyway, plus the entertainment you were already paying for, in a single payment.
When a bundle is worth it
- You already pay for two or more streaming apps.
- You want live TV (news, sports, regional channels) without a separate set-top box.
- You’d rather manage one bill than five subscriptions.
When it isn’t
- You only use one free app and rarely stream — then internet-only is cheaper.
- The bundle includes apps you’ll never open (don’t pay for filler).
The trick is to pick a bundle whose apps match what your household genuinely watches, not the longest list.
What Smartlink includes
Our plans come in three tiers — Lite, Prime and Max — with 20 to 24 OTT apps (SonyLIV, Zee5, Amazon Prime Video, Lionsgate Play, Stage and more) and the option to add 480+ live TV channels over IPTV, all on the same bill as your internet. You can also stay internet-only if you already have your apps sorted.
See what each plan includes, or tell us your building and we’ll set you up — same day in most areas.
